
With his another explicit win at the final race of GT4 on Misano track in Italy, Pavel Lefterov undoubtedly prove that he was the best pilot of the European automobile series’ season. On a wet track, in extremely harsh conditions, the Bulgarian finished with an advance of almost 28 seconds, not only in his class, but from all of the competitors. The last, sixth, round of the European GT4 series took place on 3rd and 4th of October at the Misano Adriatico track (Marco Simoncheli). This track is well known by Pavel Lefterov from the previous week, when for the second time in a roll he achieved full double win in Euro Series by Nova Race.
Rain and clouds welcomed the teams in Friday and both free practices took place on a wet track. On Saturday the weather showed, why they call Italy “sunny”.
As early as during the qualifications Pavel gave a request for an excellent performance, ensuring third place in the starting grid for the evening race on Saturday and pole position for the final race on Sunday.
The first race begun very competitively. In the first lap, Pavel won two positions and begun battling with Duncan Husman (Chevrolet Camaro) for the first position. The former took the leadership. Husman got a flat tire, and after Pavel got on the tail of the local representative P.Zamperini with Maserati. At the sixth lap M Kultan took the lead and Pavel Lefterov kept the second position despite all the attacks he got. After the mandatory pit stop, Kultan was substituted by J. Vit and had a 12 second in advance of Pavel.
With every following lap, Pavel started to reduce the difference. Six minutes before the end of the race, when Lefterov was only 1,5 seconds behind, technical problems occurred with his Lotus and he went out to the safety zone.
The hope for podium remained for the second race at the Misano track.
After the Nurburing race in August, everybody wished sun and dry weather in Italy and their wishes become true, but … only half way. Minutes before the start of the second race it started to rain and all the teams quickly changed tires.
Pavel started from pole position and begun to increase his lead. Until the end of the race, not only no one succeed catch him up, but Pavel, who competes in AM class, finished with “victory dancing” with his vehicle, again in front of all the professionals , and with a lead of 27,849 seconds in front of the second finished team.
It was incredibly strong debuting season in GT4 for the 17 years old Pavel Lefterov, as he became vice champion deservedly with the amateurs. He is definitely the new Bulgarian hope in big automobile sport.
His next appearance is at the final of the other big European tournament in the same class,the Euro Series by Nova Race, on 17th-18th of October.
